Pollinator Partnership
During the winter of 2022/2023, I was invited to participate in a project where I would attend virtual classes hosted by the Pollinator Partnership and then join with Vice-Principal Rox Hayward and students at their school to create a garden to attract and sustain pollinators. In the Spring of 2023, we completed the classroom component and began working on the second part. This element involves creating a pollinator garden and doing outreach activities so that others understand the necessity and mechanics of creating spaces in our lives for pollinators. During the early Spring, Rox was moved to a different school. Because the funding was solely tied to the first school, it didn't carry over to the new place. As an alternative, we created a beautiful pollinator garden at my home - a win-win-win for my family, neighbourhood, and local pollinators!
By enjoying the slide show below, you will see what we created. Special thanks to Ian Lawrence Photography who took the wonderful group shot on Slide 19. The remaining photos were taken by Rox and me. I am hoping to create some illustrations of the wee critters that inhabited our garden...stay tuned!
